The Sanctuary of Hope was a collective arts space based on the ideas of George Bataille. Seasonal group shows were complex and choreographed explorations of ritual in contemporary art, local art history, and community building. The Sanctuary included a residency program for the artist in need. We hosted three such artists and presented their work in a special residency exhibition. Sanctuary of Hope / the Deterritorialized Church was awarded Fiscal Sponsorship by the New York Foundation for Arts.
